Tony Smothers – Publicist

Tony’s love of  music, film and television began at an early age.  Producing 8mm movie shorts—in which he was often one of the actors—playing drums and singing in high school all helped fuel his passion to be in the entertainment business.  Visits to radio and television stations in those early years helped guide the part of his path that includes 23 years in broadcast television.

With both his right and left brain having a say in choosing his direction in college, Tony decided to study business with a focus on marketing at the University of North Carolina Charlotte.  The right brain inspired his creative side in marketing while continuing to fuel his love of music, film and television.  An average of the 3 nights out a week to see “live” music all through college still brings up great memories while talking with artists as a publicist with Chappell Entertainment.  Then of course there was that pesky left brain there to focus on making business sense out of artistic opportunities.

A true collaborator, Tony takes a holistic approach to achieving marketing objectives. His career in broadcast television sales and business development, helped Tony hone his chops in strategy and content development of multi-media campaigns. As a consultant and as a marketing director himself, Tony saw a recurring need for the targeted use of creative and technical skill sets. He created his own marketing firm to provide clients with a reliable outsource resource. He loves assembling the right team to complete pieces of marketing puzzles.

Tony’s background includes extensive television and radio production with roles as creator and associate producer of a wide variety of broadcast television commercials and half-hour and one-hour television specials including live music.  His Sales & Marketing career has included partnership and targeted event campaigns to build retail traffic along with special promotions and brand marketing for a wide variety of clients.
