When
the Soul Power Posse plays, even the "Godfather of
Soul" - James Brown would listen with great pride, having been James Brown's band for over 2 decades.
Mr. Brown's saxophonist of over 10 years, Leroy "Funky"
Harper decided to start SPP as a way to allow the veterans of soul
who had entertained generations of fans. James Brown was honored that SPP went out on their own to continue his legacy.
Their sound is pure "Party Funk". If the audience
isn't sweating, they're not playing hard enough. They play
everything from classic James Brown to Kool and the Gang
funk.
Leroy "Funky" Harper plays Sax and Keys, with
Ronald "Rock" Laster on guitar and vocals,
George "Spike" Nealy on drums and percussion,
Joe "Mac Nasty" Anderson on Bass, and Jerry "Louie"
Poindexter leading the show,
and playing the B-3 Organ.
Together, they've been bringing the funk to the world for
over 25 years, behind the Godfather Of Soul. Now, with their
new management- Chappell Entertainment, they are striking
out on their own, packing 2000 seat venues
and leaving them screaming for more.
